External Business Development Executive – Wealth Channel
Summary:
- As a key executive within Star Mountain Capital, you will drive asset growth, enhance firm profitability, and elevate our brand by building and strengthening strategic relationships with financial advisors in the Wirehouse, Independent Broker-Dealer (IBD), and Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) channels. Leveraging a consultative sales approach, you will educate advisors on our differentiated private credit, secondaries, and private equity offerings within the lower middle-market across multiple fund structures and separate accounts.
- Your primary focus will be cultivating long-term, trusted partnerships with advisors and decision-makers within these channels, ensuring that our investment solutions are aligned with their clients’ needs. You must possess a deep and established network of relationships within your region, with a strong ability to influence and guide advisors in investment and portfolio construction discussions. Your expertise should span across various investor types within these channels, including financial advisors at Wirehouses, Independent Broker-Dealers, and RIAs.
Senior Investment Consultant Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage relationships with advisors at Wirehouses, IBDs, and RIAs to promote our strategies and expand market presence within these channels.
- Educate financial advisors on the benefits of alternative investments through tailored presentations, one-on-one meetings, and participation in key industry events.
- Leverage CRM and internal resources to identify high-potential advisors within the Wirehouse, IBD, and RIA channels and prioritize engagement efforts.
- Coordinate with internal teams (investment team, marketing, product, compliance) to ensure alignment and effective execution of sales strategies within these channels.
- Drive territory-specific initiatives to capture market share and achieve sales goals, while adhering to compliance and regulatory standards.
- Regularly attend industry conferences and events relevant to Wirehouses, IBDs, and RIAs to build the firm’s presence and network with key decision-makers.
- Maintain accurate and current records of all sales activities, client interactions, and progress toward goals within the CRM system.
- Travel extensively within the territory to meet with advisors and attend events, with an emphasis on maintaining a strong physical presence in key markets.
- Provide feedback to the product development team based on advisor input to ensure that the firm’s offerings remain competitive and relevant to these channels.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in sales within the financial services industry, specifically targeting Wirehouses, Independent Broker-Dealers (IBDs), and Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs).
- Proven track record of success in building and growing relationships, raising capital, and achieving sales targets within these channels.
- In-depth knowledge of alternative investments, including private credit/equity, with the ability to tailor strategies to meet the unique needs of Wirehouses, IBDs, and RIAs.
- Exceptional communication and public speaking skills with the ability to effectively present complex products to a sophisticated advisor audience.
- Strong consultative sales approach with the ability to understand the unique business models and client needs within these channels.
- Possess an established network of relationships within Wirehouses, IBDs, and RIAs that can be leveraged to drive sales growth.
- Series 7 and 66 (or 7, 63, and 65) licenses are required; advanced credentials (e.g., CFA, CAIA) are a plus.
- Bachelor’s Degree required; advanced degrees are preferred.

Compensation:
The exact salary will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and performance during the selection process. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and other economics. Total compensation may vary by role, location, department, and individual performance.
