Managing Director, Direct Credit Underwriting
Position Description:
- Originate and lead the investment underwriting and execution of flexible capital solution investments including private credit, structured equity and select control buyouts in predominantly U.S based businesses that have between $5 and $50 million in EBITDA.
- Lead negotiation of definitive credit and equity-related documentation.
- Add value to other aspects of Star Mountain’s overall business as an aligned partner assisting in building a leading private investment business.
- Cultivate and broaden relationships with deal flow origination sources and prospective limited partners and proven third-party due diligence providers.
- Role may also include analysis and execution of purchases of portfolios of credit and equity investments in U.S. LMM funds (secondary fund investments).
- On-going, active monitoring of portfolio companies, including anticipating / documenting credit events and creatively identifying / executing value-added activities to support portfolio company needs.
- Assist with junior team recruiting, training and development.
Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of relevant experience including cash-flow lending / investing to U.S. companies with between $5 to $50 million of EBITDA.
- Demonstrated breadth of experience in originating and leading the underwriting and execution of leveraged finance transactions across industries
- Strong quantitative aptitude as well as communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proven ability to take on material responsibility and accountability for transaction underwriting, asset management and credit outcomes.
- Experience negotiating loan agreements, Agreement Among Lenders and equity-related documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft product suite and CRM platform.
- Team player with a positive attitude and great people skills.
- Willingness to travel nationwide as needed for origination-related activities, new investment due diligence, portfolio company board meetings and investor relations initiatives / events.
- Strong desire to help build office culture and team in Tampa, Florida.
- Timing: Immediate.
