The Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research took place in New York City on Saturday, October 15, 2016

NEW YORK, NY, USA, October 26, 2016 / — Star Mountain Capital, LLC, a specialized alternative asset manager focused exclusively on the U.S. lower middle market, is excited to announce that it has been named the #1 fundraising team for the 2016 Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research in New York City. 100% of the proceeds from the run go directly to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center for Cancer Research.

The Terry Fox Run is a non-competitive event where people get together as individuals, families, and groups to raise money for cancer research. It is a day of celebrating Terry’s legacy and helping to keep alive his dream of finding a cure for cancer.

This year’s run was a huge success with more than 3,000 participants raising money for cancer research in Terry Fox’s memory. Thousands of people participated in the run and gathered together to embody the indomitable spirit of Terry Fox.

Brentjens, MD, PhD, Medical Oncologist & Researcher at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. To date, over $650 million has been raised worldwide for cancer research in Terry’s name through the annual Terry Fox Run, held across Canada and around the world.

Star Mountain Capital has been a supporter of the Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research for many years as part of its broader efforts to help raise money and awareness for cancer prevention and treatment. Star Mountain Capital CEO, Brett Hickey, was formerly on the board of the Canadian Association of New York (CANY) which helps organize the Terry Fox event on a volunteer basis. CANY is a member-run organization and the focal point for the Canadian Community in the New York City area.

Star Mountain’s Brett Hickey believes that Terry’s Marathon of Hope still lives on today in Terry Foxers of all ages.
