Anne Yang, former Managing Director & Member of the Executive Office at Goldman Sachs and longtime Investor & Senior Advisor of Star Mountain, has expanded her role to become a Star Mountain Partner & Strategic Portfolio Manager
NEW YORK – July 9, 2020 – Star Mountain Capital, LLC (“Star Mountain”), an investment manager focused exclusively on the large and underserved U.S. lower middle-market, is pleased to announce that Anne Yang has expanded her role from Senior Advisor to Partner & Strategic Portfolio Manager. With decades of strategic advisory experience to leading corporations and asset managers including Blackstone, Ms. Yang brings substantial strategic value to Star Mountain’s portfolio companies to add value and help protect capital in an aligned manner with Star Mountain’s portfolio companies and investors.
“We are delighted to have one of our longtime strategic investors and senior advisors to expand her role and become a partner with us,” said Brett Hickey, Star Mountain Capital Founder & CEO. “Anne has extensive advisory and investment experience from a career at some of Wall Street’s leading asset management and investment banking institutions. She will help us provide additional large market expertise to the established small and medium-sized private businesses we invest in.”
“As a personal investor and Senior Advisor for nearly a decade, I have watched Star Mountain grow into a distinguished and differentiated investment firm. Star Mountain’s specialized focus on private small and medium-sized businesses, where there are a lot of barriers to entry, has enabled it to generate what I believe are highly compelling absolute and risk-adjusted returns in a less correlated manner to many other things I am invested in,” said Anne Yang, “At this stage, where I invest personal capital should have a sense of purpose. Helping grow quality private businesses, representing the majority of jobs in America, is an important objective for me.”
Ms. Yang was a Managing Director in the Mergers & Acquisition Group and member of the Executive Office at Goldman Sachs. In addition to her time at Goldman Sachs, Ms. Yang was also a Managing Director in the investment banking divisions of Bank of America and Citigroup. She also served as an Investment Analyst for Strong Capital Management in the management of a $4.5 billion public mutual fund investment portfolio and worked in the Merchant Banking Group of First Boston investing firm capital in leveraged buyouts.
Ms. Yang received both her B.S. and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT and her M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Yang has served as a Board Member for various city and regional public boards in Connecticut.
Star Mountain was named Best Places to Work by Pensions & Investments and named one of the 2019 Best Places to Work by Crain’s New York Business.
