Marc Brookman
Senior Advisor (New York, NY)Marc Brookman. has over 35 years of asset management, wealth management and financial services leadership experience.
Mr. Brookman has extensive senior leadership experience at leading financial institutions, including as CEO of North America at Schroders, a 215-year-old London Stock Exchange listed global asset management firm with approximately $950 in assets and locations in 35 countries. He led 350 employees in North America (U.S., Canada and Latin America) responsible for all aspects of the business including Portfolio Management, Distribution, Product, M&A, Marketing, Technology, and all infrastructure including Legal, Risk and Compliance. During his 4 years there he achieved record results in every category including Assets, Revenues, Gross and Net Flows, and Brand Rankings.
Prior to Schroders, Mr. Brookman spent 12 years at Morgan Stanley, most recently as a Managing Director and Head of Institutional Wealth Management overseeing more than $400 billion in assets. In this role, he had overall responsibility for Graystone Consulting, one of the largest Institutional consulting businesses in the U.S. He was also responsible for the Institutional Advisory businesses including Corporate Retirement, Corporate Cash, Public Funds, Defined Contribution, Financial Wellness and all distribution and relationship management.
Before Morgan Stanley, Mr. Brookman was a Managing Director and Head of Retirement Services at global financial services firm Citi Asset Management where he was recruited to build new businesses and expand existing businesses across Citigroup. He worked with CEOs of all major Citigroup businesses (Smith Barney, Travelers, and Citibank) to launch new initiatives in products and services.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Brookman was a Senior Managing Director at New York Life Investment Management. He began his career in 1988 at Putnam Investments in Boston.
Mr. Brookman received a BS in Business from James Madison University.
As part of his charitable activities, Mr. Brookman is the past Chairman and current member of the Board of Advisors for the James Madison University Business School Board and current Chairman of Gateway to Leadership, an organization promoting diversity, equity and inclusion in the financial services industry. He also serves on the board of the National Arts Club in New York City.
As an aligned Senior Advisor, Mr. Brookman assists Star Mountain with deal origination and investor relationships, industry and other strategic insights to help Star Mountain and its portfolio investments maximize value.
