George K. Kollitides II

Managing Director and Strategic Portfolio Partner

George Kollitides is a Managing Director and Strategic Portfolio Partner assisting with investment origination, underwriting, and portfolio management, with a focus on portfolio company value optimization.

Mr. Kollitides is a long-term, operationally oriented, private equity and credit investor with extensive operating and restructuring experience.  He served as Chairman and CEO of a U.S. based consumer products manufacturing company with over $1 billion in annual revenue, where he led approximately 3,000 employees and increased revenue by 40% over three years. He focuses on investing in large, growing, fragmented industries with durable revenues, and has significant experience building business platforms in the industrials and aerospace, industrial services and distribution, and technology, telecom and government services sectors. His performance-driven approach is grounded in Six Sigma (Green Belt certified), Toyota/6S Production System (“TPS”), the A&M Rapid Results Program™, and U.S. Military leadership principles, emphasizing people, processes, systems and culture to ensure repeatable outcomes and continuous improvement.

Over his 30+ year career, Mr. Kollitides has been involved in tens of billions of dollars of transactions involving public and private debt and equity.  His work includes acquiring, transforming, growing, restructuring, and building dozens of operating companies. He also led multiple platform build-ups with numerous add-on acquisitions, and created several billion dollar plus enterprises.  His transaction experience spans LBO’s, recapitalizations, growth equity, take-privates, corporate carve-outs, and reorganizations.  Mr. Kollitides is also an experienced Board Chair and member of public, private and non-profit boards and their various committees, including Audit and Compensation.

Most recently, Mr. Kollitides spent nearly a decade as a Partner with Alvarez & Marsal Capital (“A&M Capital”), a multi-strategy private equity firm with over $6 billion in assets under management (“AUM”), across four investment strategies, where he served as Co-Head of A&M Capital Opportunities, L.P. (“AMCO”), the Lower Middle-Market structured and control equity strategy. His primary responsibilities included overall leadership and oversight, as well as sourcing, underwriting, and managing investments, with a focus on portfolio company value creation.  He also served on the Investment, Valuation and Compliance Committees.

Prior to AMCO, Mr. Kollitides served as the Chairman and CEO of a private equity-owned, branded consumer products manufacturing company with ~$1 billion in annual revenue. The company operated in 65 countries through a series of complex global channels, with over three million square feet of manufacturing space, and approximately 3,000 employees.  During his tenure, Mr. Kollitides re-built the leadership team, consolidated operations, improved systems and planning, and expanded into growing and adjacent markets, resulting in 40% revenue growth. Upon a second recapitalization in 2015, Mr. Kollitides departed to help start and build AMCO.

From 2001 to 2012, Mr. Kollitides worked in various capacities for Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. (“Cerberus”), an alternative investment firm, with approximately $65 billion in AUM, across private credit, equity and real estate.  He initially served as the President of TenX Capital Management, LLC, a Cerberus affiliated private equity firm. He later became a Cerberus Private Equity Managing Director and served as the Group Head of the Aerospace, Government and Defense (“ADG”) and Outdoor Consumer Groups.

Mr. Kollitides started his career in 1991 at GE Capital, where he held roles of increasing responsibility until 1997, when he left to pursue an MBA at Columbia Business School.  Initially, Mr. Kollitides worked on complex capital and operating solutions in GE Capital’s Restructuring Group, ultimately restructuring, turning around and selling seven businesses. He then joined GE Capital’s Leveraged Finance Group, working on leveraged lending transactions, and led GE’s largest leveraged financing one year.  Eventually, he helped launch and grow GE’s global private equity business, GE Equity.

Mr. Kollitides is passionate about community service and currently serves on the Teach for America’s (“TFA”) Tri-State Chapter Board, which recruits college graduates to teach in underprivileged neighborhoods. He is also on the Advancement Committee for the Institute for the Study of War (“ISW”), a non-profit think tank led by General Jack Kean, which is frequently cited for its geopolitics expertise. Previously, Mr. Kollitides sat on the board of Yale-New Haven-Bridgeport Hospital Foundation and the Advisory Board of Tomahawk Strategic Solutions, a global security firm, founded by retired U.S. Navy Special Warfare (“NSW”) operators. He also sat on the Lafayette College Board of Trustees’ Financial Policy and Investment Endowment Committees. Mr. Kollitides served as a youth and varsity lacrosse and football coach for 15 years and as a volunteer fireman for 10 years.

Mr. Kollitides received an MBA in Finance and Management of Organizations from Columbia Business School and a BA in Economics with a Minor in Government and Law from Lafayette College and is Six Sigma, Green Belt Certified.  He was voted one of 40 under 40 in the consumer sporting goods industry, holds a U.S. Department of Defense Top Secret Clearance (inactive), is a member of Young Presidents Organization (“YPO”), and is a member of the Chief Executives Organization (“CEO”), the exclusive organization for distinguished YPO leaders.
